Introduction:
To defend their borders India must ensure that its arsenal is ready to hit the enemy hard if that time comes. Also, to hit where it hurts the most. And this can be done only with the precision-based weapons.
So, here are a few lists of Indian Missles which can be used to carry out strikes.
Number 10: Astra AAM
This is an all-weather beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile(AAM).
It is capable of receiving course corrections mid-flight.
The maximum range of the Astra AAM is 110 KMs.
Also, Astra can lock onto targets before or after its launch so it's pretty impressive.
Number 9: Agni-I Surface-to-Surface Missile
moving on to number 9 we have the Agni-I missile. Agni means fire.It is a short-range ballistic missile and the missile is capable of carrying a nuclear payload it can travel at a speed of 9,000 kilometres an hour.
Number 8: Akash SAM
This is a supersonic medium-range, a mobile, surface-to-air missile. It has indigenous radio frequency which was developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
It can target an aircraft up to 30 kilometres away.
Number 7: Prithvi SSM
This is a nuclear-capable surface-to-surface short-range ballistic missile. It was first test-fired back on January 27th 1996 and the development stages were completed in the year 2004.
This variant was also inducted into the Indian Army.
In a test, the missile was launched with an extended range of 350 kilometres and had improved navigation due to an Inertial Navigation System.
Number 6: Prithvi Air Defense (PAD)
Prithvi supersonic interceptor missile is capable of destroying any type of ballistic missile coming towards it at low altitudes. So this periphery interceptor is 7.5 meters long, a single-stage solid rocket propelled guided missile and it's equipped with a navigation system it has a high-tech computer and an electromechanical aviator.
It can destroy incoming hostile ballistic missiles less than thirty kilometres in altitude.
Number 5: Agni-II SSM
Agni 2 is a medium-range ballistic missile.Agni 2 was first tested on April 11th,1999.
The missile was tested to 2,300 kilometres in 1999 and again in 2001 it was 2100 kilometres but that had a different payload.
However, this missile is said to be able to hit targets up to 3,000 kilometres away despite what the tests showed.
Number 4: Agni-V SSM
Agni -V is a long-range surface-to-surface ballistic missile .This missile is pretty impressive it has a strike range of 5500 kilometres and it is a nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile(ICBM).
Agni 5 was mainly created to amplify India's nuclear deterrence against China and the missile can cover most of China in its range.
Number 3: BrahMos-I
BrahMos-I is a medium-range supersonic cruise missile. It has a strike range of 500 kilometres which is to be extended to 600KMs.
It can be launched from under-water,from water, from sea or from air.
BrahMos-I missile is capable of carrying a payload of 200-300 kilograms.
It's the fastest supersonic cruise missile in the entire world it can reach the speed of Mach 2.8 to Mach 3.0.
Number 2: Prithvi Mark-II ASAT
Prithvi Mark-II is Anti-Satellite, Anti-ICBM missile.It was successfully test-fired on 27 March 2019.
The test made India the fourth country after the USA, Russia and China to possess ASAT weapon.
It has a total length of 13m and diameter 1.4m. It is a 3 stage missile.
This missile is capable of shooting target which has a speed of 10KM/s with an accuracy of less than 10cm.
Number 1: Surya
Surya means Sun in Sanskrit.Surya missile is an Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile(ICBM) that is speculated to be in the development Stage.
The missile has the Nuclear warhead capabilities.
The Surya missile has a surface-based, underwater based and submarine-based variants and has a range of over 10,000 kilometres.
However, now the only thing is that none of this is a hundred per cent confirmed but if the capabilities are as accurate as speculated this is one monstrous missile.
